Held various leadership positions at GSK, Pfizer and Allergan establishing a proven track record in ophthalmic drug discovery and development over more than 30 years. Achim was a key contributor to the glaucoma drugs LUMIGAN® (also marketed as LATISSE® for cosmetic use) and VYZULTA™. He served on the Board of Directors of the Association for Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AOPT) in various capacities, including President, for almost 20 years.
Houman Hemmati, M.D., Ph.D., Head of Clinical Development
Board-certified ophthalmologist and cornea specialist who had been on the faculty of USC Keck School of Medicine and Attending Physician at LA County USC Medical Center. Houman earned his MD at UCLA and PhD at Caltech, Internal Medicine training at Stanford, Ophthalmology residency at Johns Hopkins, a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT with Bob Langer, and a clinical fellowship at Harvard. Prior to AxeroVision, he has worked in clinical development at Allergan and Capricor and founded 2 VC-backed ophthalmology pharma companies.
Stacy Evans, M.D., MBA, Chief Business Officer
Executive Consultant for the biopharma industry with over 20 years of business development, strategy and commercial development experience. He is currently Chief Business Officer of AxeroVision, Inc. and of Avillion, LLP, a Blackstone-backed clinical development and financing company. Stacy spent 12 years at Pfizer where he was the New Product Development lead and Search & Evaluation lead in ophthalmology. As a Transaction lead at Pfizer and as a consultant, he has been responsible for successfully leading up to multi-billion M&A and licensing deals.
